Rustwood – Hats By Parker Thomas。The shape of this stunning hat from the 1940s\' is unique. The wide brim has a point at the center front. The wide brim is covered with rust colored feathers on the bottom, which is what frames the face, so they are prominently visible. The medium height crown is conical, and features a bow at the front center. There is brown veiling covering the brim and feathers; it ties at the back and streams down.
The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular.
