download picture
description
Vintage Zedon ladies\' cocktail watch paired with a rose gold-filled A&Z Chain Company bracelet.
Watch Details: Zedon Geneve
The watch face bears the name Zedon, a Swiss brand with roots dating back to 1928, originally founded as Louis Donzé-Bilat.
Design: This is an Art Deco-style \"cocktail\" or \"dress\" watch, likely dating from the 1930s or 1940s based on its geometric case and aesthetic.
Movement: Zedon watches typically utilized Swiss-made mechanical manual-winding timepieces, meaning they require regular winding by hand to function.
Case: It appears to be made of rose gold-filled metal, a common material for this era that offers a warm pinkish hue.
Bracelet Details: A&Z Chain Co.
The chain is marked A&Z, identifying it as a product of the A&Z Chain Company of Providence, Rhode Island.
History: Founded in 1905, the company specialized in fine gold-filled jewelry and was notable for inventing and perfecting the expansion watch bracelet.
Composition: These chains were frequently marked \"1/20 12K GF\" or similar, indicating they are gold-filled. The floral and geometric link patterns are characteristic of mid-20th-century jewelry design.
